Bio: 

Katherine only started competitive racing in her Optimist in August 16. She has progressed at a rapid rate joining the RYA Midlands Zone Squad 16-17. She was selected by the RYA to receive a JMST award of a loan boat for 2 years to progress her sailing journey as she was sailing a 30yr old boat. In the 2017 national rankings Katherine was 4th Midlands Female and 28th Nationally. Following this she was selected to join the national development squad which is an amazing achievement in such a short space of time and wonderful opportunity. It will enable her to take her sailing to the next level and progress her aim to represent Great Britain on the international circuit.

National Ranking 2017 – 94th (overall) Female ranking – 28th,

Midlands 2017 – 4th

Subsequently being selected for 2017-18 development squad.

How has the Worcester Sporting Grant helped you?

Katherine has been selected for the Optimist Class National Development Squad 2017-18. This costs £660 for the winter season. There are 4 weekends training and a 4 day residential over the winter, the Worcester sporting grant will help support the training needed for the Winter season.

Aims for the future?

To improve my National Ranking for 2018, being selected for higher national squads and with the overall aim of competing internationally, representing Great Britain.
